MATTHEW JOHNSON’S COLLABORATION WITH ARCHITECTS ON THE ICON BUILDING, ST KILDA.

Matthew Johnson has collaborated with renowned architects Jackson Clements Burrows in the creation of St Kilda’s The Icon.

The Icon houses 119 apartments along with restaurants, and is clad in a perforated woven mesh that changes colour as sunlight moves across the building’s sculptural form. Johnson used over 40 different colours and hues in the design of the façard. Truly now an icon of the St Kilda landscape, it’s hard to miss on the junction of St Kilda and Punt roads.

For more information on The Icon and to watch an interview with Johnson about his design of the building, visit the building’s website.
