MATTHEW JOHNSON

 

biography:

Matthew Johnson currently lives and works in Melbourne and has exhibited both in Australia and internationally. Since 2007 Johnson has been an Associate of the Design Research Group, Faculty of the Built Environment UNSW, Sydney.

Matthew Johnson studied at the National Art School in Sydney from 1982-84 where he achieved a Higher Art Certificate. In 1993 Johnson won his first award, the Faber Castell Prize for Drawing. He then went on to receive numerous awards and residencies, the most prominent of which were the Cite des Artes International Artist Residency, Paris in 2002 and the Australia Council Barcelona Residency, Spain in 2008. In 2009, Johnson received the Victoria Commercial Architecture award, in association with MGS Architects, ML Design, Geelong.
